[Cards]Donations

Donations are, of course, the life-blood of a charity such as Let The Children Live! - without the generosity of people like you, we simply could not continue to help the street-children. If you have a VISA, MASTERCARD, or DELTA card, you can make a donation to support that work right now; Let The Children Live! provides secure on-line facilities for credit card donations.

Or, if you have a PayPal account, we can accept donations quickly and easily through that channel.[PayPal]

Contributions come from many sources; from Churches, from individuals searching their pockets, from schools embarking on fund-raising ventures, from covenants, and from codicils to wills. Many thanks are due to those who have already helped us to help the street children of Colombia, and our thanks in advance to those who will continue to do so.

VIVANT!, the newsletter of Let The Children Live!, has reported some of your many generous efforts...

Why give to Caesar what could be given to the Gamines? Get your own back on the Tax man when you donate to Let The Children Live!

If you are a UK resident (and pay UK taxes), you can enable Let The Children Live! to get a considerable sum back from the Inland Revenue, increasing your gift by nearly a third. All we need is a single Gift Aid declaration from each supporter who pays tax. That single declaration form will cover any number of donations, of any size, at any time in the future - we just need to have the form on our file when we receive a gift from you, and we can immediately reclaim the tax!

All details and Gift Aid declaration forms available from our Walsingham address, or e-mail us!

Our children - your heirs... have you thought of this? When you die, you could save the life of a child, indeed many children. You don't even have to make a new will. All you have to do is to ask your solicitor to add a codicil to your existing will, leaving a legacy to Let The Children Live! (UK Registered Charity No. 1013634).

UK readers might like to know of an Internet Service Provider with a difference: Care4free is an ISP for people who care which has no subscription charges. Their aim is to provide a wide array of free benefits to charities and organisations in the caring and non-profit making sector.

They aim to achieve this by allowing good causes of all sizes to harness the power of the Internet for communications and fundraising, and are unique in that a proportion of 75% of profits go directly to registered charities. Since any individual can choose Care4free as their Internet provider, funds are raised everytime that person goes on-line.

Let The Children Live! is one of the potential beneficiares of Care4free - if you are thinking of changing your ISP, then perhaps you might consider Care4free, and benefit Let The Children Live! at the same time! They also offer an alternative secure online donation facility.

We welcome all donations - however small - to enable it to help protect street children against violence and poverty, and to support initiatives offering education and training for a life away from the streets...

Volunteers

- Important Information -

In the past, Let The Children Live! has been grateful for the help that volunteers have given. However, the situation in Colombia is currently extremely perilous, and Let The Children Live! is not in a position to safeguard the safety of volunteers against the very real dangers that exist at the moment. Therefore, most regrettably, we are not considering volunteers at this time.

Consciousness Raising

Raising and maintaining awareness of Colombia's street-children is vitally important - today's headlines rapidly become yesterday's forgotten news. Who now remembers the BBC's 'They Shoot Children, Don't They?' about Guatemalan street-children? Street-children still exist, in Colombia as elsewhere, and in ever-increasing numbers. In order to stop them becoming yet another forgotten 'sensation', in order for us to keep the same tragedy in focus, it is essential to remain alert to their ever-present needs - AND to ensure that others are equally aware.

The problem is huge, the causes are complex, and there are no easy answers, no 'quick fixes'. But the more people know, the more can be achieved - even against seemingly impossible odds. Knowledge and awareness are two of the most important keys in unlocking even a partial solution. Indifference and complacency are perhaps the best methods of keeping those solutions firmly locked away.

Resources to help...

A Schools Resource Pack is now available. Please contact Let The Children Live! for details.

A Let The Children Live! Display Pack is also available. This pack of 12 A4 photographs with accompanying text creates a display for your parish/school fund-raising functions. Different sizes of headings and our logo make it easy to set up a lively display. We ask a donation of only £5 (cheque or PO made out to Let The Children Live!) towards the cost of the pack and its postage to you. Write today, to our Walsingham address:

Let The Children Live!

We also have leaflets, collection boxes, and of course, VIVANT!

The contents of this site are available to download as an off-line resource in Windows or Apple Mac format - please feel free to use these as teaching aids, or for other awareness-raising purposes.

However, our most important resource is you - your imagination, your efforts, your desire to help the street-children of Colombia.
